The sensitive actress has spoken out against the rendering of the Princess of Monaco’s life story by saying that she would be just as flabbergasted were her mother depicted in a similar manner. Grace of Monaco has been the target of vituperative attacks by Prince Albert and his two female siblings.
The main objection they have is that the film is constructed around false evidence and fake premises. It does not retain its fidelity to reality according to them. Nicole did say this much though that the movie was not suppose to be 100% true. It was just an ephemeral illustration of the sad life of Grace of Monaco.
There may be some truth to Nicole’s defense of the picture. At the beginning of the movie, it is written that it is a figment of the imagination based on reality. Nicole also said that all children feel protective regarding their parents’ reputations. She spoke of how she definitely understood their plight over stuff that got shown in the movie.
‘It’s a child’s job to protect their parent,’ Nicole said. ‘In that regard, I get it. I get why the children are upset. I can’t say much other than that I have great respect and regard for their mother. It’s not meant to be a biopic. I certainly did my best to honour everything that was real and truthful in it.’
Nicole also claimed that she had a lot of admiration in her heart at the bravery and boldness of Grace. Nicole tried her best to do full justice to the role she was to play in the movie. The movie, which is based on the life and times of Princess Grace of Monaco, is to be viewed by an audience at the Cannes Film Festival.
‘I just took a back seat on the whole thing. My job in this is to be one of the actors in the film,’ Nicole explained..‘This is about a woman who went from winning an Oscar — the pinnacle of her career — to marrying a prince. They were an iconic couple, but when you’re a princess it comes with a set of protocols and rules.’
Grace Kelly made the radical shift from an Oscar-winning actress to being the royalty of a small country. She had to act in a royal manner due to this sudden change. Nicole pretty much played her part on automatic pilot in the shooting of the film. She has shown remarkable diplomacy upon coming to know of the criticism leveled at the film.
