According to Reuters, Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is planning to reveal its first tablet this year.
Rising Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, is reportedly launching its first tablet soon, Reuters said in a report. The company is already planning to hold a special event in Beijing on May 15.
But sources could not confirm that the tablet will be revealed at the said event.
Reportedly named "MiPad," the tablet will don a 5.5-inch screen, courtesy of Sharp, sources added. The rest of the tablet's specs are still unknown.
In a short span of time, the four year-old Chinese company made it to the top 5 list of smartphone makers in China, going against Huawei and Lenovo.
In April this year, Xiaomi announced that it is expanding to 10 more countries this year. Xiaomi already sells phones in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. By the end of 2014, expect the company's products to hit India, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
Xiaomi unveiled its iPhone-killer last year - the Xiaomi Mi3.
It's also worth noting that the company nabbed Google's Hugo Barra in August last year. Barra is currently the Vice President of Xiaomi Global.
