Shonda Rhimes, creator of “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, signs a long term contract with ABC that will last through May 2018.
ABC renews the contract of Shonda Rhimes and booked her for 4 more years. Now the creator of “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy” will work with ABC Studios until May 2018.

On the day that ABC is about to unveil her latest drama series, “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes has set a long-term extension of her overall deal with ABC Studios.
ABC has already unveiled its 2014-15 schedule that includes a new show “How to Get Away with Murder” by Shonda Rhimes. The director of this new series is “Grey’s Anatomy” vet Peter Nowalk while Rhimes is the executive producer.
Shonda Rhimes is really a popular show runner. And ABC has been thinking for a long time to extend her contract. Rhimes shows are very successful on ABC and the ratings are good.
Now Thursday is the Shonda Rhimes day on ABC. All three Shonda series will air every Thursday. Grey’s Anatomy airs on 8PM followed by Scandal on 9PM while the new series “How to Get Away with Murder” will air on 10PM.
