"Obviously I feel sad because I think that the film has no malice towards the family or in particular towards Grace or (Prince) Rainier," she said.
Kidman portrays the American actress who became the princess of Monaco in a certain light that did not sit too well with the royal family. As for the critics, they have said everything that could possibly be said about the picture.

It has been literally torn apart (or deconstructed) by the film critics who found it all to be nothing but a big mistake. Kidman however has defended herself as well as the picture she appeared in.
She stood close to the director on the occasion. When Nicole was asked whether she knew that the royal family had termed the movie to be a pack of lies, she responded by saying that she was hopeful that they would one day in the future reverse their decision and actually watch it.
"There's the essence of truth but with a lot of these things, you take dramatic licence at times," she said.
"But I want them to know that the performance was done with love and ultimately if they ever did see it, they would see that there was an enormous amount of affection for both their parents, and the love story of their parents."
However, in fact Nicole Kidman did feel a little depressed due to the attitude of the high and mighty rulers of Monaco. She admitted this much that the director and scriptwriters may have been guilty of a little poetic license yet the depiction was not way off the mark.
She furthermore spoke of how if the royal family of Monaco could only somehow sit down and see the movie from start to finish they would detect the love and passion in the story.
Kidman has a striking resemblance to Grace Kelly. She saw old movies of Grace in order to prepare for the role. Nicole says that the princess had always been a favorite with her.
"She was really, really smart with an enormous passion for life and curiosity," Kidman said. "She fascinated me and still does and obviously she fascinates the world."
Kidman even swore that were she given the chance like Grace to forgo Hollywood for the royal life she would jump at the opportunity.
