Joran van der Sloot is in a prison in Peru for murder and he is to stay there for the next two dozen years or so. Yet that is no hurdle in the way of Joran van der Sloot’s planning of wedding a woman and even fathering a child with her.
Not only is van der Sloot guilty of killing a Peruvian lady in cold blood but he also may have been involved in the disappearance of a teenager.
However, these things don’t weigh too much on his conscience these days since he is too busy deciding whom to marry and sire children with. The woman he is to tie the knot with visited the same prison he was in and she is a Peruvian to boot.
"They met when she was visiting a relative in prison. They became friends and spent a lot of time together in his cell," Altez said. "Unlike The United States, here in Peru loved ones or relatives can see inmates inside their jails."
They had a chance meeting in prison and she has been seeing him regularly ever since. And the interesting thing is that the lady friend of van der Sloot is already well into her pregnancy. Yes, you heard right, 23 years old Leydi Carol Figueroa Uceda is carrying the criminal’s baby in her womb.
The mama-to-be also has a two year old boy from a previous relation. Van der Sloot has been pretty hopping glad ever since he heard the good news from his new Peruvian girlfriend. It takes his mind off the tense situation inside prison in a foreign country.
"He's very happy about getting married. Since his girlfriend is pregnant, he wants his child to be born to a married couple and he's anxiously awaiting the day he can get married," Altez said.
A small-scale wedding ceremony will take place in the penitentiary chapel soon. However, one worrisome thing is van der Sloot’s previous criminal record which may undergo a repetition this time around too.
He is an unstable man who may explode anytime. But "He's getting married because he's in love and is having a child. There are no hidden agendas," Altez said.
Van der Sloot will be released from the locker sometime in 2038 which of course is a long time from now. But if he shows good form while in prison the sentence may be reduced.
