Godzilla features Bryan Cranston who appeared in the drug baron series Breaking Bad. There were other forecasts which calculated the gross amount that would accrue from the movie ticket sales as reaching $68 million.
Both in the United States and Canada, the movie was at the pinnacle. Even the hit Neighbors featured at the #2 spot. This movie is the second big venture by the production house, the first being Pacific Rim. It took $160 million to merely make this movie. It was truly a giant inaugural for a giant movie.
Furthermore, it is a movie that is being embraced abroad as well as on its home turf. Over two thirds of the budget was paid by Legendary (the production house) while the rest was paid by Warner Brothers.
The US and Canadian markets will return $240 million in the form of revenues from the sale of tickets. And more than $14 million will be going into the coffers from the pockets of the home audience.
Contrast this with Pacific Rim and a wholly different story emerges. About $190 million was the cost of production in case of the latter. As for the production of profits, in the case of Pacific Rim, $101.8 million was the amount raised.
Worldwide, the sales amounted to $411 million which says a lot in itself. The movie shows mutant reptiles that come out of the sea and terrorize mankind. They have to be gotten rid of at all costs.
Godzilla movie is especially a crowd favorite in the United States. The original Godzilla series on television was titled “Gojira”. The huge radioactive creature portrayed in it is scary indeed.
