Ric Flair's daughter Charlotte is trying to work her way up the wrestling ranks, per multiple reports.
"Ric Flair is one of the biggest stars in WWE history, and how his daughter Charlotte is hoping to follow in her dad's footsteps.
"The 28-year-old is working her way up the wrestling ranks, trying to make a name in the WWE's developmental territory, NXT Wrestling. Ric Flair's daughter -- whose real name is Ahsley Fliehr but wrestles as Charlotte -- has already staked a claim in the league.
"She made her television debut last summer, and later in 2013 won some high-profile matches including a tag-team victory on the September 4 episode of NXT.
"As she won more matches, Charlotte started to adopt a larger persona within the league. In February she took on NXT Women's Champion Paige and defeated challenger Emma in a match in which she faked an injury to gain an advantage.
"Just last week Charlotte defeated Alexa Bliss in the semifinals of the NXT Women's Championship Tournament.
"Aside from having a strong lineage from her father Ric Flair, Charlotte also has a background as a standout athlete. She was captain of the volleyball team at Providence High School, leading the team to two NCHSAA 4-A state championships during her tenure.
"Charlotte is also a certified personal trainer.
"Those who watch Charlotte in the ring might find notes of Ric Flair in her style. She adopts her finishing move -- a figure-four headlock -- from a move her father made famous in the then-WWF.
"The dynamic between Ric Flair and his daughter is strong, despite an otherwise shaky family situation. Ric Flair has been divorced several times, but maintains a close relationship with Charlotte and gives whatever help he can as he ramps up her wrestling career."
Paul Guzzo of The Tampa Bay Tribune wrote on New Year's Day that Flair goes to the Tampa Bay area to visit his daughter, who he says has potential as an acrobatic wrestler. Guzzo was also able to get the thoughts of wrestling historian Jason Powell on the matter.
"Ashley, on the other hand, has a natural love for the ring.
"Flair compared her talents to those of the great acrobatic wrestlers, saying she can perform the type of high-flying moves that illicit 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the crowd.
"'What I hear, she does have tremendous athletic ability,' Powell says. We'll have to see how that translates in the ring.'
"Ashley began training in the WWE in 2012. When she is ready for prime time is up to the WWE.
"Flair said she wants to succeed more than he wanted his own success. But there is little he can do for her once she sets foot in the ring.
"That's why he's making more trips to Tampa now.
"If she struggles with the pressure, he wants to be there for her. That's what a dad does, even if he made a living hitting other men over the head with steel chairs.
"'She's strong mentally,' Flair said. 'She can handle anything. She is going to be fine. She's a winner.'"
According to her Wikipedia page, Charlotte was born on April 5, 1986 in Charlotte, N.C.
