“Hamuketsu” craze is all the rage in Japan. Two books have already been published containing photos of the rear ends of both male and female hamsters and a third photo book will be released on May 30th.
The fans of rear end photos of hamsters have introduced a new craze in Japan called “hamuketsu”. This new crazy term is being created by combining two words: “hamster” and “ketsu.” Buttocks are called “ketsu” in Japanese. Hence “hamuketsu” means hamsters’ posteriors.
Two Japanese publishers have already published two different photo books that contain only the rear end images of both male and female hamsters. And the publishers have said that they have sold almost 40,000 copies of both books in Japan.
Japan loves the photos of hamsters’ posteriors. And the rear end photos of male hamsters are more popular than female posterior photos as they are big and round. This craze is increasing in Japan. Hence, a third publishing firm is also set to release a new photo book of hamsters’ posteriors by the end of this month.
Basilico Co. is the first publishing firm which released the hamsters’ posteriors photo book. “Hamuketsu” is the title of their book. The publishing company has printed 15,000 copies of its 96-page photo book on March 12th. More than 7,000 copies of this book have already been sold.
A spokesman at Basilico, Takeshi Takahashi, said, “The great thing about hamuketsu is that it is delightfully cute. I can’t stop smiling when I see these butts.”
Sekai Bunka Publishing Inc. released the second book titled “Kawaisa-ni Monzetsu Hamuketsu,” or “Hamuketsu–So Cute You Could Faint” on April 19. Initially the company printed only 7,000 copies. But these sold out and the company has had multiple reprints after that.
The company has already shipped a total of 30,000 copies. This book contains 72 pages. Photos of all types and colors of hamsters’ posteriors are present in this book. According to Ms. Minami, these photos help “soothe the hearts” of viewers.
The Arimine Shoten Shinsya Company is all set to publish a new (actually third) photo book of hamsters’ rear ends on May 30th. This book will be titled “Ganso Hamuketsu,” or “The Original Hamuketsu.”
