Scarlett Johansson has admitted she is sick and tired of being “an object of desire,” and would prefer to focus her attention on her current pregnancy with her first child.
At 29, Johansson, who is pregnant from her fiance, Romain Dauriac, also said that she isn’t worried about the aging process, and feels less and less pressure to be the perfect looking woman people expect her to be.
She said: "I don't want to be the ingénue any more. That part I'm happy about. It's nice to be glamorous, but I don't want to always have to be trendy and glamorous and an object of desire. Via The Australian. I don't want to be stuck in that forever. Because it doesn't last."
The Avengers star previously admitted she hopes that she'll be able to juggle motherhood and her career.
She said: "I want to be able to have it all. Selfishly."
Luc Besson sat down and talked about Johansson's role in his next upcoming film Lucy and what type of trials she would be going through while engaging in the film in a report by The Inquisitor.
“You say, ‘Okay, why not? Let’s meet.’ And then you talk and I talk about the film and I watch their eyes. I see, you know, how she eats her food. I see if she’s trying to please me or if she’s not really there, if she’s distracted. In the case of [Scarlett Johansson], she came in, and she was such a strong woman,” the director explained.
He added, “She just looked at me the entire time, really trying to take it in, which I love. She’s pure concentration. She’s not here for nothing. [Johansson] was all in for that meeting, to see how it might be, and at the end, I tell her, ‘Okay, read it.’ That’s it. She took it. She called me back. And that was it. She was in.”
“It’s about the chemistry. You need to feel comfortable. You’re going to spend six months together. You need to be sure that it’s not a job. She was really focused on me when I was telling her about the film. She was feeling it. I can feel she was at the right spot already,” he explained.
Scarlett Johansson fans who are ready to see the actress star as the primary action star should ensure they line up a seat at the theaters later this summer. Lucy hits the big screen in the US on August 4.
