Kate Upton's missing armpit for an Elle shoot has been reduced to mockery across news sites and social media alike.
In part because the photo once again highlights the model's lack...of armpit? Yep. The Other Woman actress seems to be missing a huge chunk of her arm and a tree haphazardly replacing the area.
Malec's "Kate Upton's Armpit Photoshopped?! Model's Armpit Seems Smaller in Harper's Bazaar Pic" asks fans and readers if the arm looks a little wonky. Many of the comments focus on her looks, often negatively comparing them to women like Scarlet Johansson's curvier figure. But some agree and posit that it's not just her armpits that have met with Mr. Photo.
In fact, the copper and white one-piece suit and heels are an editorial dream, but the photoshopping job went very wrong. Her long legs, nipped in waist and gorgeous blonde hair all create a look of tall, elegance. Even her famous cleavage seems to be toned down in the shot. But the missing armpit is definitely drawing attention.
In Fashion and Style's piece, "Kate Upton’s Armpit Disappears In Photoshop Scandal!," writing staff note the original article in Elle focuses on maintaining a healthy, curvy body while wearing a beautiful bathing suit in the photo spread. And fans noticed how the skin looks “untouched, as her armpit looks bizarrely smooth and skinny compared to her red carpet photos."
Looking at other pictures of the model shows an abundance of curves just under her armpit. The model does not seem to resemble her normal figure and body at all in the photoshopped image.
David Kirsch, Kate's trainer, says, “I don’t have her on a specifically gluten-free diet" but the intense physical training seems to enhance "the nature of what she eats."
Speaking of training, the model seems to thrive in high-intensity and circuit-based moves. "There’s lots of core, butt, and thigh shaping and toning. We work with resistance bands, stability balls, do lateral lunges for the inner thighs, and for arms we do boxing." He says the model "will beat me up" and "she loves it."
Jaime Feldman wants Harper's Bazaar and Elle to know "one of the things we love most about Ms. Upton is the confidence and love she has for her body." The Huffington Post article "Kate Upton Gives Us A New Way To Prevent Armpit Sweat with New Photoshop Fail" also mentions that altering the look for a gloss print "seems misguided" as more and more look for representation in the modeling and fashion world.
Twitter chirped when reposting of the picture. Users seemed equally scornful and amused at the latest photoshop failure.
