The backwards support will come from a software update which is currently held at 'standby' by the company
With Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 everyone had been hoping got get backwards compatibility with all the titles which were launched on the predecessors. But it seems that things aren’t always that simple especially with gaming consoles. Microsoft’s latest next gen gaming console came out late last year and since then all gamers have been in limbo as far as the support for the Xbox 360 titles is concerned. The good news is that this compatibility might become a possibility in the near future and we are not just making this statement out of the blue; a similar has been made in an earlier report as well.

This backwards support for previous generation of gaming titles will most likely be brought by an update in the software. However, we do advise all gamers to keep their calm because currently this software update is being held on ‘standby’ by the company; which means that we wouldn’t be expecting this update to come any sooner than we had hoped. New Halo titles are also coming up and we don’t why Microsoft would want to mess up its chances. Moreover, backwards compatibility is just too early for a console that launched only a few months back. So for now it only means that those who really want to enjoy the Xbox 360 gaming titles will have to put up with the older console.
