The report appeared on Empire News which is said to be a self-described “satire” website.

The news spread fast all over the internet that Charles Manson was granted parole. However as it turns out, this was merely a hoax and no such thing has happened. This was an entirely fake report and was posted on Empire News which is said to be a self-described “satire” website. Though the report was fake yet it managed to get thousands of likes and shares on Facebook. The following paragraph shows what the report said about Charles Manson’s report;

“One of the most famous killers in the American prison system will be walking free. On Tuesday Charles Manson, who is now 79 years old, was granted parole by the California Board of Parole and authorized by California Governor Jerry Brown,” it reads. “The ruling, issued by three judges overseeing the state’s efforts to ease the overcrowding, gives California until February 2016 to achieve their goals. But, the judges said, the state has to make elderly inmates and those with serious illnesses eligible for parole immediately,” the article adds.

It is indeed surprising that some people actually fell for it because back in 2012 Charles Manson was denied parole by the court and he was described as some “dangerous”. So how could things have changed so soon? He has been convicted of seven murders in 1969 in Los Angeles and five of his victims were at actress Sharon Tate’s home. After he was found guilty, he was sentenced to death but according to ABC, in 1977 his sentence was changed to “life in prison with the possibility of parole, after a 1972 ruling by the California Supreme Court that determined the state’s death penalty statute at the time was unconstitutional.”
