Asus and Sharp both have competing displays coming out

The Retina Display from Apple is one of their crowning achievements, with it being seen as one of the major upgrades that is coming to the top of the line computers. They will have a competing display, however, as Sharp and Asus both have their own models coming out.

First is Asus, who is going to be releasing a laptop that has a 4K display. The Zenbook will measure at 15.6 inches and come with a new kind of technology that they are calling Quantum Dots. This will improve the power efficiency, the brightness, and the color gamut of their displays greatly.

There is also Sharp, who will have an 8K display that has been prototyped in a 13.3 inch form. This is based on OLED technology and measures out to 7,680 X 4,320 pixels. At 664 pixies per inch, it is three times as powerful as the current Macbook Pro.

This all means that Apple will have to work hard to bring the Retina to all of their products. They have been slow to update many of the products they have, including the iMac, but if they are going to remain competitive they will have to do this. Their Macbook Line is still one of their most popular products, but that isn’t the only product they have for sale.
