There has been a lot of speculation over the kinds of things that Apple has in store for their set top box, but the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo shows a lot of promise for those hoping that they are going to make a move towards gaming.
Companies like Mad Catz, Razer, and more have begun creating iOS controllers, in the style of the same console controllers they have been creating for years. Having Playstation and Xbox looking controllers is making people hopeful that Apple will finally realize the goal of Steve Jobs and turn it into a gaming console.
This is something that many have been looking forward to, including big names like Gabe Newell of Steam and Xbox engineer Nat Brown. People like them have been saying for years that if Apple would enter the console market they would be able to easily overtake the market. In line with what Apple aims for with their devices is that even iDevices could function as controllers for the Apple TV, using the AirPlay peer-to-per technology that will be coming with iOS 8, which will be released later on in the year.
There is a lot in store for Apple fans this year, including rumors of a streaming TV service that partners them with Comcast. They are working hard to improve the television experience, but gaming is a priority for a lot of people.
