Steam Machine is making a handheld Steam game system
The Steam Machine ideas always stick to something that usually amounts to a desktop PC but with the need for increased portability for almost everything, we need something which we can take with us on the road. For this purpose, we can enjoy the Steamboy which is a handheld take on Valve's platform. The outer side of the device is pretty much like what you would expect with something looking like a Steam Controller prototype with the signature touchpads. Slotted in between is a generous 5-inch display.
Unfortunately, we haven’t received many details on this one from Steamboy Machine but The Escapist knows that the device's quad-core processor (likely either an Intel Atom or AMD A4) and 4GB of RAM "won't be as powerful" as other Steam Machines. Well, we must say that we don’t find this so surprising after all but we do accept the importance of it being able to play the "majority" of titles. We are also hearing that the device might sport 3G mobile data and 32GB of built-in storage. At least we will have something good to look forward to even if the device doesn’t have the ability to support high intensity games.
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
