Eliza Dusku and Fox have broken up after five years while she goes to college.
The couple was constantly together on sets and Fox was found at conventions whenever Dushku had an appearance.
Us Weekly reports the 33-year-old found the different coasts hard to maintain when she's a Boston girl at heart.
Talking to The Boston Globe, she notes one of the most telling signs was the lack of home space. "Nobody in L.A. has a basement. They all have the obligatory storage spaces in the Valley." For an East Coast girl, basements are expected. Where else are you going to stuff the ugly, broken but possibly usable chair?
The Dollhouse actress recently purchased a Boston condo (but no basement) with plans to finally attend college.
Stephanie Webber’s “Eliza Dushku, Rick Fox Split After Five Years of Dating” points out the Buffy alum’s never been shy in wanting to go back to school and getting an education. Her mother is a well-respected political science professor with deep ties to studying Mormonism through a feminist filter. Her father, Philip R. Duskhu, is an administrator and teacher at Boston Public Schools.
And she uses that background to visit her Albanian roots. In August 2011, she visited Albania with a Travel Channel and Lonely Planet film crew to boost tourism through a documentary titled Dear Albania.
"I missed my town and I missed my family." The cold, bitter winters are more important than being "emotionally cold in L.A."
On the subject of marriage, Fox told Us in January of 2011 that "we want to make sure the foundation is laid in a responsible way where communication is had about what she wants from life as a woman." Pretty smart decision since "whether she wants to have kids or go back to school" would directly impact the relationship's direction.
He added, "watching her and my kids bond over the holidays was really a gift to me—I couldn't have wished for anything better."
The 44-year-old old NBA star player turned actor told The View panel earlier that he was single, right as the news broke.
Her love of his kids, Sasha (14, with singer Vanessa Williams) and Kyle (19, with college sweetheart Kari Hillsman) was evident on Twitter whenever the holidays rolled around. Constant references to the family flooded her stream and her joy at being a part of it. So it makes sense when he "told her, 'We're not married, yet, but you're like a stepmother to my kids.'"
Zach Johnson’s “Eliza Dushku and Rick Fox Break Up” for E! dug up a recent quote where Dushku told The Improper Bostonian, "I just sort of come alive when I'm home." After 15 years in L.A., she feels “there's a level of truthfulness and individuality here that is refreshing in a business where everyone conforms to certain standards.”
I've enrolled in college back in my hometown of Boston, while Foxy will continue to slay em w his radness in LA, Atl, Bahamas & beyond..!— Eliza Dushku (@elizadushku) June 24, 2014
The only "story" here is a pos1 that I'll value & treasure forever. As 1 of his biggest fans-won't stand for a negative word nor implication— Eliza Dushku (@elizadushku) June 24, 2014
For a woman looking to spread her wings, the break up seems to be a chance for the world to Bring It On.
