Lisa Whelchel was in Survivor Philippines and she also appeared in The Facts of Life. Lisa Whelchel was quite a media figure in the 80s. Recently, she got back together again with her costar Charlotte Rae. The two even shared a selfie together.
Lisa Whelchel was on cloud nine when she appeared in Survivor Philippines. But she had to refrain from mentioning the fact that she had already appeared in The Facts of Life, the long-running 80s sitcom. That would have ruined everything.
She had cast herself as a rich brat on the show. However, that did not stop Lisa (played Blair Warner)from sharing a picture of her and good old Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) on Instagram.
Along with the picture were the words “she gave me some good advice.” It seems that not everyone is forgotten by their juniors. 51-year-old Lisa didn’t forget Charlotte Rae and contacted her for some quality time together.
Charlotte Rae was the ideal person to go to for advice. And Lisa finally went to her to get back in touch with her roots. The selfie the two shared together has gone viral on the Internet.
It has reminded those people who were children during the 80s that what a wonderful and success-oriented decade that period in history was.
While the other members of the show The Facts of Life, Tootie (Kim Fields), Jo (Nancy McKeon) and Natalie (Mindy Cohn), were not available, the den mother Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) and Lisa Welchel had a really cool time remembering the good old days and cracking a few jokes with each other.
Lisa says that she wishes she had not taken her weight so seriously back in those days. Since she was a little on the heavier side, she felt self-conscious as compared to the others.
"The biggest fact of life I wish I knew while on the show is to be a little proud of being a little heavier than the typical girls on TV," Whelchel said in a recent interview.
"Because it gave the opportunity to give the girls who watched the show a point of reference for a reality of what girls look like and accept themselves at a normal weight."
But now that she is a grown up and has overcome her awkwardness, she feels absolutely comfortable with her self-image and body-size. The thing that looked to be a puzzle back then has easily been solved today thanks to perspective. With a change in personality as she grew up, Lisa managed to find her true vocation in life.
