Simply titled “Paula”, the songs in the album come from a deep source indeed. He has poured all his emotions and feelings for his wife into many of the songs that feature in the album.
"These songs poured out of me over the course of two weeks, the whole album pretty much," Thicke told ABC's "Good Morning America" host on Wednesday, July 2.
"When I was looking through some of our old wedding photos and our sentimental stuff, I saw the pictures of the kids at our wedding and I thought it might be nice to recreate a wedding through the eyes of the 8-year-olds."
He said in his interview to GMA host that when he went through some of the old pictures of their wedding ceremony, he got teary eyed and saw many juvenile kids attending the event.
He sang his songs by keeping the feelings of the kids in mind. "She’s the best person I ever met so I thought the least I could do would be to devote an album to her," he said.
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton had been in love with each other since they were little children. For him she was literally the girl next door. Yet after ten years of a stable marriage they decided to call it quits which is a tragedy.
37-year-old singer said, "I actually have no idea what I’m doing. I’m just kind of flying by the seat of my pants on this one. I just wanted to make something artistic out of a very difficult period. ... When you lose the love of your life you don’t have much to hide anymore."
Robin has been feeling uneasy of late due to the fact that he is seriously missing his wife. The love, security and good vibes he felt for her when they were together are something he wishes for on an urgent basis.
But there is only an empty space in place of Paula and he feels extremely depressed to be alone. Thicke also advised other married men."If you’ve got a good woman, take care of her guys," he said.
Robin Thicke is the singer of the famous song “Blurred Lines”. He spoke of how currently he is going solo on a purely instinctual basis. He said that the difficult period of excruciating pain he felt when Paula left him was what he had poured into the album.
And he also has some hard-earned lessons for men who have a good wife. Never let go of her no matter what. Robin furthermore said that he hadn’t seen Paula since the past four months or so.
In another interview to radio channel Hot 97 about his album "Paula," Thicke said, "I had so much that I still wanted to apologize for and take responsibility for and that’s what the album is about.” He added that “I haven’t seen her in four months.”
“Last year was really just kind of a blur in many ways, no pun intended,” he told Hot 97's Elbro. “Everything happened so fast and you don’t realize all the things that come with it. I changed and I got a little too selfish and a little too greedy and a little too full of myself. At this point in our relationship, the only reason we’re not together is because of the choices I made.”
“I messed up and had to lie for a while and then I stopped lying and that was actually good for me because I was tired of lying. So this whole album is me revealing everything," he said.
And maybe she hadn’t even listened to any of the tearjerker songs dedicated to her on the album. Whatever the case, Robin is not comfortable with his current solitude.
