Phaedra Parks has a spouse who is in serious trouble. A court found "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Apollo Nida guilty on all charges of mail, wire and bank fraud. He is lucky that the judge gave him a light sentence of eight years instead of the 30 years he was supposed to get.
Phaedra Parks and Apollo Nida both appear in the reality TV show, Real Housewives of Atlanta. Later on when facing the press, RHOA star Nida spoke of how the government had its duties to do, so it was okay. "The government did what they had to do," he said.
When he was asked whether he had any regrets, he said in a matter of fact way that whatever the judge thought best was alright by him. Nida seemed to be in a passive mode.
After all, the shock of being found guilty of such a sneaky crime was a little too much for him. Afterwards, one of the officials said that Nida’s prosecution and punishment ought to be a fair warning to others in society.
"Today's sentencing exemplifies impartial justice regardless of economic class or perceived celebrity status," said Reginald G. Moore, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Secret Service, Atlanta Field Office.
"Nida's sentence should be an eye opener for other like-minded criminals who scheme to steal victims' identities, defraud them and ignore the consequences of their actions."
The message was that just because you were high class and a celebrity, in no way did that condone any malpractices and white collar crimes on your part.
"On behalf of my client Apollo, right now he feels remorse. He thought the judge was fair, and accepts his sentence, although he was hoping it would be less," Nida's lawyer Thomas D. Bever told PEOPLE.
"Apollo is elated that this proceeding is past him and is no longer handing over his head. It meant everything to him that his mother and brother spoke on his behalf. He's OK, and will get through this."
Phaedra Parks, Apollo Nida’s wife, was flabbergasted by the whole scandal. "Phaedra’s heartbreak and worry over this sad situation," a source told to HollywoodLife.com. She is worried about there kids now.
Apollo Nida was furthermore said to have spoken regarding how he was so sorry that he let his family down by his bad and dumb behavior. He admitted that there were simply no excuses for what he had done.
"I want to apologize to the victims," Nida told Aceshowbiz during the Tuesday court appearance. "I want to apologize to my family for letting them down."
Yet he also said he was glad it was over and done with since he had those guilt feelings as a constant in his life and getting caught was almost like a release of sorts.
Phaedra Parks is really worried about their two sons who are still so young. They will miss the love and protection that only a father’s presence could lend to their existence.
“Phaedra saw this coming and she and Apollo have known for a long time now that he’d be sentenced. It’s not a surprise to her. The only thing she’s worried about is Ayden and Dylan growing up without their dad,” an insider told HollywoodLife.”
“She knows just how important it is for her children, and young black boys in general, to grow up with a father. It’s devastating to her that her two boys will miss their father during some of the most precious growing years of their lives.”
And during these particular years of their lives a dad’s shadow is crucial. It is sad but true that they will miss their daddy during the time they grow up into full-fledged teens.
