This year could be huge for Apple, with the preparation of iOS 8, OS X Yosemite, and at least one hardware device. While the iWatch is perhaps the most anticipated, the iPhone 6 is also shaping up to be an incredible piece of technology that will catch them up with the competition.
According to Apple Balla, in Taiwan, Apple has placed an order for 68 million units of the upcoming iPhone 6. In 2012, they only ordered half of that for the iPhone 5 launch. This could be to make sure they are covered in the event of high sales. When the iPhone 5 was launched they ran into a lot of trouble with keeping up with demand, so this could easily solve that issue.
What size these devices are going to be isn’t known. There have been rumors that the 4.7 inch model will be delayed due to problems with the supply chain, but the same hasn’t been said for the even larger 5.5 inch model that is also expected. More recent reports say that they are both going to be released at the same time, but we don’t know for sure.
In any case, this will be a powerful launch for Apple. The combination of this and the iWatch can be a great way for them to have a stellar year that tops past launches by a long shot.
