The actress, who’s naturally blond, said she’d been battling increasing allergic symptoms to the beauty product for about a year.
When you’re dying your hair trying to give it a new look, an allergic reaction is the last thing you expect to experience as we usually think of it as something that happens to other people and not us. that’s not exactly how a hair dye experience turned out for “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette who had to rush to the hospital to get treated for severe allergy after using a hair product.

The naturally blonde Pauley Perrette had a hair-raising experience with the dye with which she gets her signature raven hue. We all know her as the goth-style forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the hit CBS show and this wasn’t the first time she was dying her hair. She intended to dye her hair black as she had always done over the past couple of years but this time it didn’t turn out so well as she to make a run to the hospital as a result of a severe allergic reaction.
“Did my head look a bit puffy on the red carpet last night? Turns out I was having a dangerous allergic reaction to hair dye,” Perrette, 45, wrote to her half-million Twitter followers Friday. She also posted a picture of herself which showed off her swollen face and was captioned as “This was me at the hospital today and it got worse.” However this reaction didn’t show up for the first time as the actress claims to have been dealing with it for over a year now. “It’s an acquired allergy for people that dye their hair for years,” she tweeted. “Was in ER. Just got home from hospital. Awful. My head swelled up huge like a melon.”
