Some internal sources also told THR that Ghostbusters 3 will focus on female Ghostbusters. The first two Ghostbusters movies were directed by Ivan Reitman. The first Ghostbusters flick was released in 1984 while Ghostbusters II hit the theaters in 1989.
Now after a long period of 35 years, Sony has decided to make another reboot. And the production house first hired Ivan Reitman to direct the 3rd sequel.
However, Reitman left the film on March 18. And Sony started searching for a new director for Ghostbusters 3. The previous reports also suggest that Phil Lord, 22 Jump Street director, and Christopher Miller names were also under consideration for the post of director.
But the current THR report claims that Paul Feig will direct the movie as he "has shown interest in taking on the project." However, no formal negotiations have started yet between the studio and Paul. But sources claim that Paul is Sony's first choice. Sony has refused to comment on the news.
Paul Feig is currently directing the Melissa McCarthy starrer action comedy movie Spy that will hit the theaters on Memorial Day next year.
Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg wrote the original script for Ghostbusters 3. But the duo had to revise the script after the death of original cast member Harold Ramis on February 24.
Another original Ghostbusters star, Dan Aykroyd has committed to return for Ghostbusters 3, but Bill Murray has declined to make a comeback. And all the fans should also prepare to watch female Ghostbusters in the upcoming reboot. Is it exciting? Leave your comments below.
