Katherine Heigl lives on a ranch with her hubby and two adopted girls who are real cuties. She met her husband Josh about a decade ago and the two have never looked back.
They are soul mates and star-crossed lovers and friends all wrapped up in one. And Josh is a country musician par excellence with many hits to his credit.
In the beginning when she met her husband-to-be he ignored her. But later on they really got to know each other’s personal experiences and found that they shared a great many interests.
Their wedding which took place seven years ago was a winter affair that reminded one of the Chronicles of Narnia. Both husband and wife wanted to adopt South Korean children, so they went ahead and did just that.
"My family had its own unique look," she says. "And I wanted the one I began with my husband to have the same look, in a way."
When the first adopted baby, Naleigh, came into their lives, the two were overjoyed. Katherine reports how she would kiss the baby girl when she was asleep. And she would get angry when she couldn’t spend quality time with Naleigh due to being busy on set.
"I would come home angry and frustrated that I'd missed everything with my kid that day," she says. "I didn't get to wake her up from her nap, or do bath time or bedtime. I'd have to sneak into her room and kiss her when she was sleeping, hoping not to wake her up."
"I felt like my priorities were messed up," she says of that period. "I was putting so much time and energy into just my work, but I was raised [to believe] that family comes first."
She had to leave her responsibilities on screen so as to be able to enjoy a more peaceful and serene life. She wanted a loving caring family life with her kids and husband and so moved to Utah where there was little transportation hassles and the people were amiable.
Her childhood was a very carefree one and she had followed the example of her parents. Rules were rules and had to be obeyed. Katherine had great respect for family values in her heart.
"We had big dreams of expanding our family, moving to the mountains and having a quieter life," she says. "Utah is spectacularly beautiful, the people are wonderful and kind, it's an easy commute from L.A. — and there's no traffic!"
Utah is also the domain of people with Mormonism as their faith and Katherine’s parents had this religion as their guiding light. Two years ago Katherine adopted a second child, Adalaide.
Now she and her husband and their two children are one happy family. She is almost a full-time mom by now. And she is content with her decision to give her husband and her children all the attention in the world.
