Windows Phone Store hits more than 300,000 apps

And Microsoft expects the number to get much larger with the arrival of "universal" Windows apps

Having more than 300,000 apps on its virtual shelves has been a big achievement for Microsoft's Windows Phone Store. The recorded figure of apps which helped Microsoft achieve such a big milestone was revealed through the "Microsoft by the Numbers" page. Along with this news, Microsoft also declared that this figure is expected to keep on increasing because hundreds of new apps are added on a daily basis.

However, we do understand that the number doesn’t count more than the quality of the apps but there is nothing to worry in this regard since according to WPCentral, some of the best apps are now available on Microsoft's mobile OS store. But at the same time, some weird apps are also coming through.

Any mobile platform predominantly functions on the apps, which become a vital role for success. In this regard, we have been more than impressed by the Windows Phone Lumia handsets because of their very innovative and user friendly features. It is well understood that all necessary apps need to be present to retain customers’ interests or else they will simple move on to some other mobile platform. The mobile market is currently dominated by Apple and Android and only so much of a market can be taken over by these Windows Phone apps. While talking to TNW, a Microsoft spokesperson said "We have more than 300,000 Windows Phone apps today and the Windows Phone Store continues to grow. In the past year alone the Windows and Windows Phone app catalog has grown 94 percent, while the number of active developers has grown by 50 percent."
