Bellevue, Wash. police are investigating the alleged involvement of Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch in an assault and personal property damage incident that occurred early Sunday morning.

Marshawn Lynch is the subject of a police investigation in Bellevue, Wash.

According to The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta, authorities are looking into the Seattle Seahawks running back's involvement in an assault and personal property incident that occurred on Aug. 10:

"The Bellevue Police Department is invesigating an allegation of assault and personal property damage involving Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch alleged to have occurred early Sunday morning.

"Here is the press release from the Bellevue Police Department:

'On August 10, 2014, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Bellevue Police Department received an allegation of an assault and personal property damage at a downtown Bellevue apartment unit. The incident was alleged to have occurred at 2:30 a.m. on August 10. The female victim alleged that the suspect was Marshawn T. Lynch.

'No domestic violence or sexual assault was involved in the allegation. The Bellevue Police Department is in the process of gathering the facts of this alleged incident, including verifying whether or not Mr. Lynch was in fact involved. No arrests have been made. There is no further information available at this time.'

"Bellevue Police Department spokesman Seth Tyler said there is no further information at this time and reiterated that 'this is only an allegation. We haven't even verified that he was involved.'

"Tyler said the Bellevue Police Department will talk to Lynch as soon as it can.

"'We will be reaching out to him yes, absolutely,' he said. He said, however, he did not know when that would occur.

"Tyler said there is no timetable for when there will be anything more to release concerning the case.

"The Seahawks practiced Sunday at the VMAC and Lynch participated throughout, having what coach Pete Carroll said later was 'a very good practice.'

"Lynch held out the first week of Seattle's training camp before returning after the team agreed to turn $1.5 million in incentives and future pay into base salary for the 2014 season. That raised his base salary for this year from $5 million to $6.5 million.

"Lynch turned 28 on April 22.

"The Seahawks are not practicing Monday but will practice again Tuesday in the final workout of training camp that is open to the public."

ESPN's Terry Blount weighed in on Lynch's latest controversy in his Aug. 10 blog:

"Just when everyone thought all the controversy involving Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was over, a much more serious situation than a contract dispute has surfaced.

"News broke Monday Lynch is under investigation by the Bellevue, Washington, Police Department over an alleged assault and property damage claim from an incident early Sunday morning.

"The police say they don't even know if Lynch was involved. No arrests have been made.

"The Seahawks players were off Monday, but return to the practice field on Tuesday morning, the final public practice session of training camp. No doubt questions will come from reporters, trying to get a team comment on the pending investigation.

"Lynch will not speak to reporters, since he never does unless he is required to do so by the NFL.

"Lynch will not speak to reporters, since he never does unless he is required to do so by the NFL.

"So Lynch continues to be an off-the-field story the Seahawks will have to address at some point if he was in fact involved in the alleged incident.

"He was the No. 1 topic before camp began and during his eight-day holdout when he wanted changes to his contract...

"...He actually had his best day of camp on Sunday, going full speed in practice and looking like the dominant runner he has been the last (three-and-a-half) seasons.

"Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made a point of praising Lynch's effort and saying how he came to camp in good shape.

"Maybe these allegations prove to be false and everything will return to normal. Or as normal as it gets with Lynch, a man who seems to find controversy in one form or another."

Lynch has rushed for 7,389 yards and 58 touchdowns in 104 career regular-season games for the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks, per ESPN stats
