Foxconn Chairman takes Ice Bucket Challenge

The charity viral sensation Ice Bucket Challenge goes global. Chairman of Apple partner Foxconn took the Ice Bucket Challenge.

An endless list of celebrities has taken the Ice Bucket Challenge in the passed days. Most of them have been American celebs. The Ice Bucket Challenge supports Project A.L.S. The charity records millions of Dollars in donations since the beginning of the Ice Bucket Challenge. The Ice Bucket Challenge is around since about nine month but went super viral in the past seven days or so.

Now it even went international and reached as far as Asia. Hon Hai Precision Chairman Terry Gou took the Ice Bucket Challenge. Hon Hai Precision is better known as Foxconn in the States. Foxconn is Apple's premier hardware partner in Asia and makes most iPhones and iPads.

A former Foxconn employee suffering from ALS switched on the robot arm that unleashed the cold water. Watch the video published by Foxconn below.

Terry Gou was nominated by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. It is really impossible to take track of everyone who took the Ice Bucket Challenge. Terry Gou not only took the cold water plunge, but also donated a whopping $210,000 to Project A.L.S. $200,000 went to Taiwan's ALS Associationa nd $10,000 to the U.S. ALS association. By the way Apple CEO Tim Cook has already taken the Ice Bucket Challenge and so have many more.

 

Project A.L.S. was founded in 1998 by Jenifer Estess, her sisters, and friends, and has become the new paradigm for brain disease research. Project A.L.S. identifies and funds the most promising, rational, and aggressive research strategies among collaborators at Harvard, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York University, and The Salk Institute, among others.
