Microsoft finally is shooting at the Chromebooks. Now the first $199 Windows 8 laptop leaked and it looks decent.

Microsoft promised to finally go after the Chromebooks. Microsoft said to work with laptop makers to bring Windows 8.1 laptop priced below $249. One of them leaked on German blog Mobile Geeks.

The $199 HP Stream 14 laptop runs on an AMD A4 Micro-6400T Quadcore-SoC with 1Ghz and a Radeon R3 GPU. The key though is the SSD storage of either 32GB or 64GB. Using SSD makes this laptop usable performance-wise. Other features include 14-inch screen with 1,366x768px, 4-5hours battery life, 2GB RAM, HD camera, Wi-Fi, card reader, HDMI and USB 3.0.

The $199 price of this bargain laptop includes 2-year subscription to 100GB cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive.

Laptops priced under $200 are the holy grail for Black Friday laptop deals. Last year the lowest prices hit $178. These Black Friday laptops are though always conventional laptops with very low performance. These brand-new Windows 8.1 low-cost laptops are set to become the hottest Black Friday Laptop deals during Black Friday 2014. I can see retailers advertising $149 Windows 8 Laptops as doorbusters similar to the HP Stream 14.

These new low-cost Windows 8.1 laptops could become as big a seller as the netbooks have been a couple years ago.
