TVLine first reported that "The Mindy Project has cast comedy vet Niecy Nash (Reno 911!, Getting On) to play a rival to Mindy Kaling’s title character in Season 3."
Later on, Mindy Kaling also confirmed that Niecy Nash is returning to the MINDY PROJECT. She confirmed about Nash's return in a tweet. See her tweet below.
And Niecy is Mindy Lahiri’s main opponent on the series. Her character of Jean Fishman is the sort of woman who does not suffer fools (or lovers) gladly.
The screen resume shows that Niecy has appeared in programs such as: Reno 911!, The LeBrons, American Dad!, Getting On, The Soul Man, Bad Teacher and last but not least the feature film Selma.
The MINDY PROJECT meanwhile portrays a comic situation based on the book by the famous author, Mindy Kaling. It shows the haphazard life story of an OB/GYN.
According to Broadwayworld, "THE MINDY PROJECT is a comedy created by and starring Emmy Award-nominated writer/producer and New York Times best-selling author Mindy Kaling. Entering its third season, the series follows a skilled OB/GYN with a chaotic personal life."
What just occurred in the past season of this series is worth repeating here. Mindy gets herself into a relationship on an airplane by kissing a man.
But later on they struggle to maintain the fickle bond. At first her lover decides to play hard to get but later on when Mindy starts dating several men he starts relentlessly pursuing her.
Finally, the two share a tender moment while on top of the Empire State Building. Mindy is shown doing her job along with two other general practitioners.
There are three nurses among the medical staff too. So it makes for an interesting scenario to watch on FOX. Of course, Mindy Lahiri has met her perfect foil in the form of Niecy Nash in the show.
The two will be facing off against each other on a psychological basis. The office politics and daily grind will be a source of extreme pressure for Mindy.
But that is precisely what the show will illustrate in the way of human ingenuity. The fact that human beings possess the resources to cope with their environment and even rise above their circumstances is what differentiates them from the beasts.
Niecy Nash, who recently completed filming of HBO’s Getting On season 2, will definitely be adding the necessary element of spice to the drama. She is a fundamental part of the equation and the MINDY PROJECT is incomplete without her. Season 3 of The Mindy Project will begin on September 16th.
