Apple announces iPhone 5 battery replacement program
Apple has announced a battery replacement program for the iPhone 5. But don't get too excited yet, as Apple is only replacing affected iPhone 5 devices sold between September 2012 and January 2013.
Furthermore, Apple says that only a small percentage of its iPhone 5 devices were affected by the battery problem that required units to be charged more frequently.
If you happen to be experiencing this problem on your iPhone 5, Apple has prepared a serial number checker on its official support page (hit the source link below to access Apple's support page). If your phone is eligible, Apple will replace your battery for free. But that will mean handing over your phone to Apple, which could take days, if not months, depending on your location.
The iPhone 5 battery replacement program is now available in the U.S. and China. Apple says that it will launch the program in other countries on Friday, August 29th.
Do note that if your iPhone 5 has other problems such as a damaged screen, you will need to resolve that problem first prior to the battery replacement. Also, remember to back-up your phone, okay?
