Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey Lighten Emmy Award Show

The "True Detective" duo of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson knew that eyes would be on them during the Emmy Award show on Monday.  This allowed them to take their act to a different level from the gritty TV show, into a bit of comedy for the evening audience to enjoy.

As one Twitter user pointed out, the pair's blue and maroon suits are nearly identical to a certain A "Night at the Roxbury" duo. Steve and Doug, portrayed by Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan respectively, wear suits that are a little more tacky than the ones that were donned by the two Emmy nominees, but the similarities resemble the outfits from the film.

One tweeter wrote, “McConaughey And Harrelson’s Emmy Suits Are Straight Out Of ‘A Night At The Roxbury,’” while another simply noted, “woody harrelson and matthew mcconaughey are dressed like steve and doug from night at the roxbury and it's the best thing ever.”

The HBO hit series costars not only sat in the audience with one another, but took the stage to poke fun at each other while presenting.

“Alright, alright, alright. Come on back to the airstream after, I’ll make the best margarita,” Harrelson said, mocking McConaughey as he stepped up to the microphone to present the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie.

“I have said that,” the Oscar winner admitted before telling a story about Harrelson. “Late last year I had a little problem…I go to my friend Woody, I said, ‘Woody what do you do when a problem comes up in your life?’" McConaughey said. "And he looks back up to me and looks at my eyes and says… ‘I just forget about it.”

After sending the audience into a series of hysterical laughter, Harrelson responded by saying, “So you won the Oscar and got Sexiest Man Alive and want the Emmy too?”
