Charlize Theron concept of beauty and the beautiful is the sort of lifestyle you live. And although she is a very charming and photogenic starlet, Charlize Theron believes in the sort of person you are inside rather than what you look like from the outside.
She is not one of those fake celluloid floozies who like to survive on the surface of things. She has done method acting and that too in depth by engaging in all sorts of makeovers.
From going bald to piling on the pounds, if the role calls for it, Charlize is willing to undergo it. Her latest ad for the Dior perfume J’adore is very surrealistic and romantic in its scope.
It shows her travelling through a dreamscape-like atmosphere and then climbing a scarf-ladder into a new futuristic city. The soundtrack accompanying this is all about a way forward through the present into the future.
Charlize sat down for a tete-a-tete with Women’s Wear Daily in which she opened up about her life and the roles she has to play as an actress and a mother.
She spoke of how the mistake many women make is that they believe that their life is over after 40, whereas in fact that is just the beginning of wisdom.
"I think that women find their strength and power in their sexuality, in their sensuality within, [through] getting older and being secure within that," said Charlize Theron.
"It’s ironic that we’ve built the beauty world around 20-year-olds, when they have no f--kin’ concept about wisdom, what life is about, having a few relationships below [their] belt and feeling hardships, to grow into [their] skin and feel confident within [themselves] and to feel the value of who [they] are, not because of a man or because of something like that. And I think that’s such a beautiful thing."
"And that’s why I think people say women come into their prime in their 40s. And then for some reason our society just wants to go…it’s like a dead flower. [She pulls a flower from a vase.] It’s like we wilt for some reason. And men are like fine wines — the older they get, the better they get. It’s such a misconception, and it’s such a lost opportunity because that’s when I think women are really in the true moment of their sensuality. I can’t believe I almost killed that flower to make a point."
A lady should be comfortable in her sensual life and not count outer beauty as everything. And as far as fashion therapy is concerned, Charlize disclosed that she had a limited closet of stylish dresses.
She wouldn’t want a wardrobe the size of a bungalow. It would be simply too outlandish. She prefers to lend her clothes to charity or someone who admires them rather than allowing them to collect dust on the clothes hangers.
Theron also keeps abreast of the human rights causes worldwide. She is a politically active individual who speaks up for what is good and just.
She is definitely a hard worker and has a perfectionistic streak somewhere in her. As for her kid, she feels that she has to be a good role model for him.
He will get all the support and advice he needs from her. The rest of it, it is his struggle in the world which will increase and enhance his personality.
