ASUS Announces The ZenWatch, Android Wear Smartwatch At IFA 2014
Since everyone was trying out their lucks with the smartwatches, why would ASUS stay behind? Their first smartwatch was unveiled today at the IFA event in Berlin and because we had already seen the little teaser by ASUS, there enough surprising element to this unwrapping. It was almost a year before when the company made announcements about working on a smartwatch which would be something like Moto 360, and LG and Samsung’s first Android Wear smartwatches.
Moving on to the specifications of the smartwatch, the Zen Watch is going to sport a 1.63-inch curved 320×320 AMOLED display and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The wearable device packs inside 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage along with Bluetooth 4.0, a bio sensor which can measure your heart rate, and water proof up to IP55 rating. So ASUS was quite right when it said that their smartwatch would resemble the already existing products of similar nature and the specs somehow resemble LG G Watch, Moto 360 and Samsung Gear Live. The ASUS ZenWatch is going to be priced at €199 (which is about $260 USD), and will hit retailers in Q3 and Q4 of this year.
