Samsung's virtual reality headset, the Samsung Gear VR, will work in par with the new Galaxy Note 4.

True to earlier reports, Samsung is working with Oculus to develop a new VR headset for mobile phones. Earlier this year, it was rumored that the South Korea giant is building its own headset that will connect to a mobile phone to operate, unlike other VR headsets. That appears to true. Samsung's VR headset, the Samsung Gear VR, will work in par with the new Galaxy Note 4.

Tapping on the 5.7-inch Quad-HD Super AMOLED display of the Note 4, the Gear VR is expected to proffer stunning visuals. It's completely wireless too. The headset has a touch pad, back button, and volume key. It offers a 96-degree field of view and its interpupillary distance coverage ranges from 55 to 71 mm.

Other features include a microUSB port which connects to the Note 4, accelerator, gyrometer, magnetic sensor, proximity sensor, and more. The VR headset will also be pre-loaded with a bunch of 360-degree videos and 3D movie trailers from major studios including Marvel, DreamWorks, IMAX, and Vevo. The Samsung Gear VR will be available in Frost White through Samsung's online store and carriers this year.
