Daily Show host Jon Stewart made his first movie last summer. Today it will screen at the Toronto Film Festival.
Jon Stewart directed his first movie titled Rosewater. It tells the true story of Iranian Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari's five-month imprisonment in Iran after his appearance on Stewart's show. In 2009 Maziar Bahari was covering Iran's elections. He was one of the few reporters living there so he also appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. It was in a taped interview with comedian Jason Jones and was of course in a satirical tone. Apparently the Iranian officials did not get it and accused him of spying for the US. See the full profile of Rosewater on the TIFF site.
