The Miss America 2015 Contest carried on in its splendor as usual. A patriotic tribute got paid to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy while Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Maryland win preliminary awards on Thursday, September 11th.
The final preliminary night of Miss America 2015 Contest began with a patriotic salute to the brave American men and women who died on that fateful day 13 years ago (September 11th, 2001, when the terrorist attacks occurred on the twin towers).
Miss America, Katie Harman, who was given the title in 2001 along with Mary Haskell, the erstwhile Miss Mississippi, spoke very heartwarming and emotionally charged words on the occasion of remembering the heroes of the American nation who have fought tooth and nail with the enemy ever since that dreadful day in time.
The oneness of all of America as a melting pot and the depth of sorrow for the lives lost way back then reached a crescendo of critical mass and brought tears to many eyes.
Miss Pennsylvania was one of the winners for her performance of a song from Phantom of the Opera. She got a $2000 scholarship for her rendition of the beautiful song. Miss Maryland meanwhile got a grand as scholarship money.
On the other hand, Miss New Jersey set the stage on fire via her blue and turquoise dress. She danced and pranced to the Beyonce song “Listen”. While she is a good dancer, Miss New Jersey has always had developmental hip dysplasia.
Yet dance is her outlet for conquering the disease. Miss New Jersey really made an impact on the audience by her courage and grace under pressure. It had always been her wish to dance on the Miss America show and finally here she was doing that exact thing.
Congratulations to tonight's prelim winners: Miss Pennsylvania Amanda Smith for Talent and Miss Maryland Jade Kenny for Lifestyle & Fitness!— Miss America Org (@MissAmericaOrg) September 12, 2014
Her city has been facing problems recently and so she highlighted the advantages of being on the Miss America platform. It was a method of benefiting her home town.
She also plans on entering the evening gown and swimsuit competitions on the occasion of the Miss America 2015 Contest. Well, all the power to you, girl! You’ve sure got it made!
