The Apple Watch is not a tech gadget. It tries to be a watch covering the full range up to luxury.
The Apple Watch got revealed by Apple last week. In my opinion Apple jumped the gun with the announcement. The release is months away, maybe even a half-year. Apple did only say early 2015. Apple is obviously not ready with the Apple Watch. Apple also did not reveal every detail yet. Although the impression is already that the Appel Watch has a very broad feature set.

Apple expert John Gruber at Daring Fireball released a very interesting report on the Apple Watch. It is lengthy but contains several interesting observations. One major thought is the concept that Apple is moving away from tech gadgets with the Apple Watch. Apple never calls it a smartwatch. It is a watch and it comes in affordable up to luxury versions. The gold Apple Watch could cost $5,000 according to Gruber's speculations.
Obviously it makes no economical sense to drop $5k for something that will be outdated within 12 months when the new thinner Apple Watch 2 will be released. The entry model sells for very affordable $349. The luxury Apple Watch models have though the potential to take some Dollars away from luxury watch makers over time. I already also see young rich guys wear a Rolex on the right and a Gold Apple Watch on the left hand.
Another interesting thought of Gruber is that Apple is going to replicate the Apple Watch concept to other markets where integrated technology could be a game changer in the future. Apple is unstoppable?
