iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus 8MP cameras show better results than that of the Samsung Galaxy S5 16 MP camera.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have ended the megapixel race in camera phones. Why? It is because of the fact that more megapixels mean nothing now. Samsung Galaxy S5 is a smartphone with a big megapixel camera.

Galaxy S5 has a 16MP camera. But iPhone 6 wins the camera shootout against Samsung Galaxy S5 with its 8MP camera. Geoffrey Fowler of the Wall Street Journal tested all three cameras of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S5.

And he found out that "the images from both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are the best" he has ever tested on a phone to date. Despite having cameras having half the megapixels of Samsung Galaxy S5, both new iPhones can capture images better due to their improved sensors and enhanced phase-detection focus technology.

Fowler captured night images of San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts with iPhone 6, iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5. And iPhone 6's camera results are clearly better than those of others. He also took pictures of other places in daylight with the Galaxy S5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5S.

And both new iPhones captured better images than that captured by the Samsung Galaxy S5. Actually, Apple used improved sensors and a focus technology called phase-detection in both new iPhones. And the lens of iPhone 6 Plus even has optical image stabilization that "helps accommodate for shaky hands, particularly in low light when shutter speeds are slower."

Apple did not increase the pixel count of its cameras but improved the lenses, sensors and post-processing technologies in its new iPhones. And this helped Apple in beating its arch-rival Samsung in the megapixel race of the camera phones.

Hence, iPhone 6 and iPhone Plus actually ended the megapixel race by beating the huge 16MP camera of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
