Mariska Hargitay who is a regular fixture on Law & Order: SVU has said that Chris Meloni helped her out in getting better at her game.
It’s been more than a decade and a half since Mariska Hargitay has been appearing in Law & Order: SVU. Her character of Olivia Benson sat down with James Lipton and talked about the show and her place in it.
She started following the ways of policemen and even learnt how to shoot a gun. Mariska claims that she is now such an adept in the fine art of psychology that she can spy a pickpocket a in a crowd.
Her partner, Meloni has the cutest pair of buttocks in Hollywood and he is a man! Mariska explained the situation of playing a role with Chris. He is a straightforward and honest gentleman who shoots from the hip.
She loved acting with him and regarded him as a wonderful human being and actor par excellence.
"I'm so grateful for my time with him," she said in the clip below. "I think Chris is incapable of lying. He is a truth-teller; he's committed to the truth at all costs. I loved his passion and commitment…He made me better and I love him. I loved acting with him and I love him as a person."
With the 16th Season of SVU about to start rolling, the whole situation has changed. And the new roles and new conditions will have to be faced no matter what. But Mariska is fully satisfied and very happy indeed with the slots that are assigned to her in this television show.
She loves the roles and sensational plots and intrigues she is to play out on screen. The level of excitement and exhilaration at doing such a wonderful show that entertains millions by its twists and turns of narrative is something for which the character Olivia Benson is thankful indeed.
Here finally, she has a platform where she can express herself fully without any reservations. She never wanted to do something boring and so now she has the ideal vocation where every single second in front of the camera is a moment of magical transformation.
"I love her more now than ever...I love her because I am challenged by her," Hargitay told reporters on set of Law & Order: SVU. "I never know what's going to happen. She surprises me. [Warren Leight, showrunner] surprises me. This character has evolved, which is the most exciting part of it. I feel in many ways she's a new character because she's gone through so much that has truly transformed her."
Mariska is very lucky indeed that she plays a strong woman who likes having her own way with men. You don’t normally find such practicing feminists in today’s post-feminist times where a backlash in equal rights has taken place.
