Are the the original Star Trek actors to appear in the 2016 Star Trek 3 movie? Rumors and statements go both ways.

Leonard Nimoy has appeared in both of the new Star Trek movies directed by JJ Abrams as the old Spock. Will in the 2016 Star Trek 3 movie also have the original Captain Kirk. Rumor reports say yes and even William Shatner talked about it at a fan session in September. It is not clear if he made a joke though back then, because in recent posts he flames journalists for writing articles that that say he is in Star Trek 3 based on recent, now deleted, two word tweet of Shatner that said "I am back."

William Shatner also pinned a Tweet from September where he states that he does not know anything about Star Trek 3 and nobody contacted him.

So how does all this fit together? I have no idea, but Star Trek fans are already super excited about the 2016 Star Trek movie that will mark the 50th anniversary of the cult-series.

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy have actually just recently took on their classic Star Trek roles and appear together in this new Volkswagen e-Golf Commercial.

Star Trek 3 is directed by Robert Orci. Star Trek 3 is his first directing job. This has some Star Trek fans worried. Orci has though been before a long time writer for movie franchises like Transformers and Star Trek.
