The site, its first, will handle same-day deliveries, pickups, and returns.
Amazon is reportedly planning to open a retail store in New York, reports the Wall Street Journal. The said brick-and-mortar shop, a first in its 20-year history, is located at 7 West 34th Street, a few steps just across the Empire State Building.

The Journal adds that Amazon is poised to open just in time for the holiday shopping season when people are more inclined to shop. Sources said that the 12-story store will function as a mini warehouse for same-day deliveries and pickups.
Amazon will also use the site for product returns and exchanges. Most importantly, a physical store will be a great way to market Amazon's products, namely, Kindle e-readers and Fire devices.
“It's about marketing the Amazon brand,” Wells Fargo analyst Matt Nemer told the Journal. “Same-day delivery, ordering online and picking up in store are ideas that are really catching on. Amazon needs to be at the center of that.” Meanwhile, Amazon declined to comment on the report.
