Tom Hanks is going to reprise his role as the acclaimed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon.
The third installment of the Dan Brown’s novel based movies; Inferno’s release date has been announced. It is due to be released on October 16th in 2016. Tom Hanks is going to reprise his role as the acclaimed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon.
Ron Howard is going to produce and direct the film and we can expect Hanks-Howard collaboration to bring the mystical charm of the Brown novel to the screens after seven years of break from Langdon, since the release of Angels & Demons.
The rumor for the third movie of the Langdon’s character based novels by Dan Brown were in play for quite a time after the release of the second movie Angels & Demons.
The Lost Symbol, the third novel by Brown featuring Langdon failed to deliver a substantial effort for making a movie. We can assume that the Langdon movies have to have an European based theme for them to work, Da Vinci’s Code in England and Angels and Demons in Rome, Italy.
The Lost Symbol was based in Washington D.C. and its plot failed to deliver much inspiration to be made into a movie despite having a thrilling plot in the heart of the USA.
Inferno is based in Florence and Howard might have wanted to capture the Langdon magic once more on tested grounds. The plot takes us to through the streets of Florence and ends in the Seven Spice Market of Istanbul.
Langdon will be chasing clues once more after suffering from amnesia and retrace his steps along with an attractive blonde (actress to play Sienna is still not confirmed).
This time Langdon would be following Dante’s best literary work Inferno to find a weapon of mass destruction. The theme is almost the same and we can expect that Howard felt comfortable working on the movie once more.
The other person who would be returning to the franchise is Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks played Robert Langdon for the first time in the Da Vinci Code in 2006. Audrey Tatou accompanied him as the lead female character.
The movie grossed 758 million dollars and was an acclaimed Hollywood hit. Angels & Demons was the next film in the franchise in which Hanks played Langdon. The cast also included Ayelet Zurer, Ewan McGregor and Stellan Skarsgard.
Despite the star studded cast, the film failed to deliver as well as the first movie. It might be blamed on not following the novel’s plot. Howard is known for straying from the story and adding his own touch to the plot but sometimes you have to stay true to the story.
Howard initially wanted the movie to be released in Spring, 2015 but Sony has given its official release date to be in October, 2016. This will give the production and the post-production teams enough time to create satisfactory results for the new movie.

I would suggest that Tom Hanks reads up on his Dante and Howard should read Inferno so both of them could deliver their best for this awaited movie by the fans despite the lessening popularity of Brown’s work. We hope that it may revive the best of what Brown has offered us over the years.
