The creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, Shonda Rhimes says she is sick and tired of answering the same question over and over again.

Shonda Rhimes said that the question about how she manages her work with her personal life drives her nuts. She also said that her male colleagues are never questioned regarding their work-life balance.

Shonda Rhimes is given the title of “The most powerful black female show-runner in Hollywood.” While criticizing her title she said they would never call anyone the most prevailing white male show-runner. Well, hats off to her for speaking up.

Gender imbalance has been a recurring issue for centuries. It does not matter how eminent a woman is in her particular field, what matters is how good she is in managing both her personal life as well as her professional life.

There is nothing more boring than an interview in which you are asked about your work and personal life. Questions regarding family, romance, sex, life and death are common and there is nothing wrong with asking these questions.

The problem arises when women exclusively are asked these questions thus bringing the term “she-taming” into existence. It is a procedure by which wreathed females exonerate themselves from their inherent domestic responsibilities and they also become feminized.

The key point to note here is that this is not only about gender imbalance, but it is also about the imbalance among different categories of women. People like Rhimes are bombarded with work-life balance question, but there are women who have no power or career and are ignored.

These are the women for whom the work-life balance question is a pressing issue. No matter how irritating these questions are for celebrities like Rhimes, yet it is much better than being devalued, disregarded and dismissed.
