Roberts’s exit could mean a promotion for “Smackdown” announcer Lilian Garcia.

Right after Monday’s episode of WWE RAW was done taping, the wrestling company announced the show’s main ring announcer Justin Roberts. The press release says “WWE has chosen to not exercise its option to renew ring announcer Justin Roberts’ contract. Effective immediately, Roberts is released from WWE. WWE wishes him the best in all his future endeavors.”

So one of Robert’s last duties included announcing NeNe Leakes and the mostly B-list female wrestlers in the nights “Total Divas” promotional match. That’s sad. The news has come as a surprise to some people such as the former ringside commentator Jim Ross, who tweeted he was “shocked.”

However, the followers of the WWE programming know that this move was coming sooner than later.

NXT is not only a way in which the company enhances in-ring talent but it also uses it for announcing talent since it came to be in 2012. In the recent days, fans have seen Eden go from announcing for “NXT” to announcing for “Main Event” and “Superstars,” two mid-level programs that feature main-roster talent.

It isn’t likely that Eden will move up so soon to WWE’s flagship program but Robert’s exit is going to be beneficial to announcer Lilian Garcia who is most likely going to get a promotion.
