Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy are to appear together in Pop’s first scripted series titled Schitt’s Creek.

The Network which is presently known as TVGN has just declared that Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy will star in its scripted series Schitt’s Creek. The sitcom will depict the life of a very rich family that squanders away all its hard-earned money in a Ponzi scheme.

Thus they have to shift to a seedy motel in Schitt’s Creek. And believe it or not, Schitt’s Creek is a tiny place that they had once purchased on a wholesale basis with their millions of dollars. Eugene Levy will be the video store mogul Johnny Rose while Catherine O’Hara will be his family drama wife Moira.

Eugene’s real life son, Daniel will act as their son in the drama. As for Annie Murphy, she will be their daughter on the show. Meanwhile, Chris Elliot will be the mayor of the two story town. What the show illustrates is the lesson that poverty gives those who were once on the top. Imagine the reality TV stars that appear on KUWTK ending up broke? What would they do? That is the scenario presented in Schitt’s Creek.

The head exec of Pop said recently that the show presents a hypothetical situation where the corrupt and filthy rich elite end up being among the riffraff and bungled and botched. But it is presented in good humor and is a laugh riot. It will elicit many a guffaw from the audience and that is a sure thing.

"This show answers the question — what would the Kardashians do if they woke up one day, completely broke?" Brad Schwartz, president of entertainment and media for Pop, said in a statement.

"Not only is this project a clever cultural commentary where the 1 percent is suddenly the 99, but it fits right in the heart of everything we're building at our new network. It's a dream cast, it's hysterically funny, and it's sure to pop."

Meanwhile, the very name “Schitt’s Creek” is enough to induce a belly laugh. The series extends to over a dozen episodes. And what it basically shows is that hard times can visit anybody from the company CEO to the owner of a supermarket. Hardship knows no divisions or boundaries.

Poverty is something that makes many people panhandle their bread on the streets. And it is not something very idyllic nor is it meant to be romanticized. It is a tough ordeal that one wouldn’t wish on one’s worst enemy.
