The company has “broken” Apple’s latest innovation

For people who travel on a regular basis, their mobile data plans are an ongoing problem. Apple decided that they could solve this problem by including new SIM cards that can be used with multiple carriers on short term data plans, although AT&T doesn’t happen to understand it.

With the new SIM cards included in the iPad Air 2, customers are able to travel anywhere in the world and sign up for local plans that are used on a temporary basis. For businessmen, this is something that will save them an incredible amount of headache. AT&T made the decision to disable this feature, causing people to have to buy a new SIM card if they want to change carriers.

T-Mobile was the first company to point out this massive mistake, giving an example of the message that users receive on their device, saying “ You will need a new Apple SIM if you change carriers in the future.” Essentially, this has broken one of the latest innovations in convenience from the Cupertino company.

According to AT&T, however, they have not done anything out of the ordinary and are not stopping people from using any carrier that they want. While technically true, it doesn’t change the fact that the company disabled something that Apple believed was important, along with their customers that think the same thing.

Will this affect the future of AT&T when it comes to Apple customers? This is entirely possible. Consumers are protective of new Apple features and they will boycott companies that don’t play ball. With the popularity of iPads for people on the go, this could have a big impact.
