iPhone 6 outselling iPhone 6 Plus by 3-to-1 margin in US

The blockbuster sales of the iPhone 6 lineup are mostly driven by the 4.7-inch model, though the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus has still captured a considerable size of the market.

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners have released a report which shows the sales breakdown for the first 30 days of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus availability in the U.S. Analyst Steven Milunovich of UBS has summarized the date and concluded that out of all the iPhone 6 sales, almost 68 percent were from the iPhone 6 and between 23 and 24 percent was accounted for by the larger iPhone 6 Plus. So we can say that within the first few days of availability, the new iPhones represented about 91 percent of total iPhone sales and the remaining percentage was mostly for the iPhone 5s and 5c.

Milunovich had revealed similar data in the previous year regarding the iPhone 5 and in contrast to this, the two models together of iPhone 5s and 5c had accounted for 84 percent of total iPhone sales after one month. With the results of this year’s iPhone 6 release and the sales that followed, we can clearly say that people are getting more and more interested in Apple's latest-generation premium models.

According to Milunovich however, the data at hand is not sufficient to determine what the actual demand for the iPhone 6 Plus is because Apple is still not able to completely take care of its demand and is still facing a shortage for its larger sized phone.
