  • More than 2 Million Copies of 1989 has been Sold in Just Three Weeks.

Country singer, Taylor Swift’s latest album “1989” is a chart topper. For the third week in a row it is at the pinnacle on the Billboard 200.

After Taylor Swift’s album remained on top for nearly 21 days, she is still not happy. This is the only other album besides the Frozen OST that had achieved this status. The Frozen original soundtrack also remained for a similar period of time on top in the present year on the Billboard 200.

Taylor’s famous album “1989” had 312,000 copies purchased by lovers of her style of music. She is one famous and hot country singer and just recently she made the transition to pop for a change. This is the first album to have broken the record in matters of sales.

The only previous example that comes to mind is Beyonce’s album which came out last year. At present “1989” has sold a total number amounting to two million CDs. Phew! Now that’s a phenomenally huge number.

Taylor is currently way ahead of other renowned musical stars such as Barbara Streisand. Only the late Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey surpass her in matters of popularity. The upcoming challenges to Swift’s supremacy include One Direction’s album that is about to arrive soon and which bears the simple title of “Four”.

Among some others who trail way behind Swift on the Billboard 200 may be included…the Foo Fighters with their Sonic Highways; Pink Floyd, those originators of the rebel anthem “Another Brick in the Wall”, with their The Endless River; Garth Brooks with his Man Against Machine; the rap artist known as Big K.R.I.T with his Cadillactica and last but not least Nick Jonas with his Who I Am.

There are a few others who have earned nominal accolades on the Billboard 200. They include: Pentatonix, Sam Smith, George Strait, Meghan Trainor, Hozier, Maroon 5, Drake, Tove Lo, Big Sean and of course E-40. Eminem and Lady Gaga have made room for themselves in the top spots via their The Marshall Mathers LP 2  and Artpop albums respectively.

Coming back to the topic at hand, Taylor is on top of the world with her phenomenal success. But like they say cynicism is a cyanidal poison that can make the most perfectionist of persons think that they are failures in their own eyes. Taylor was spotted recently in public and she was wearing a black ensemble and looking very glum and morose.

She didn’t even have much makeup on her face and seemed positively depressed. This is one successful girl who just cannot get enough fame. She seemed not too pleased with the record-breaking sales of her album. That makes for a dissatisfied woman and she fulfills the criteria of that song by the Rolling Stones “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”.
