HTC to release wrist wearable
  • Not a smartwatch
  • Competition from Apple, Samsung
  • HTC promises something different

The device will be shown off at the CES 2015 and will launch in the first quarter of the year

Though we had expected a downfall in the growth of the mobile market, but we sure though that the heavy saturation was downright scary. And now it seems that the smartwatch and wearables market has been moving towards this trend a bit too fast and companies are left to struggle to convince the consumers that their product isn’t the usual thing they have been seeing since a long time now. In a similar move, HTC has announced plans to introduce its wrist wearable, which it has clearly stated isn’t a smartwatch.

News about the wrists wearable has been surrounding the company’s door since quite some time now but something official has come after a company spokesperson revealed to VentureBeat that HTC is ready for something big in the first quarter of 2015 and this isn’t going to be a smartwatch. According to HTC, the new device will be flashed off at the CES which is to take place in Las Vegas in early January next year. However, the device will only be shown off at the trade show event and wont be launched by then.

For this new device, HTC is going to team up with other companies which have had some experience of developing apps in the field of fitness but so far the company is not willing to deliver information about who these partners are going to be. A little while ago, HTC had circulated some rumors which said that a fully fledged smartwatch would soon roll out of the company’s window but no such thing happened and it had been made clear by the company’s chairwoman, Cher Wang, back in February that an HTC smartwatch would be out by the holiday season this year. Some rumors have gone as far as to suggest that HTC might even roll out a Google powered smarwatch.

What appears to be more likely is that HTC probably has cut back on the developments for the smartwatch considering how strong the competition is in the market right now. However, despite some intense competitors like Samsung and Apple, HTC has still decided to go on with a wearable device.
