First Shelby GT 350 Mustang to be Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale sale
  • Winning bidder decides colors
  • Also decides packages for retail production

The proceeds of the sale are going to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

The Shelby GT 350 Mustang is going to be available at the Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale sale and the proceeds of the sale are going to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which is a leading global organization and works for funding Type 1 diabetes research. The lot #3008 is going to honor the 50th anniversary of the Shelby GT350 Mustang and the bidder who wins will not just pick the colors but will also decide packages for the first retail production version of the legendary pony car.

We really don’t think that the term ‘pony car’ applies to the Shelby GT350 anymore because this version is going to generate over 500 hp and more than 400 lb-ft of torque from its specially tuned 5.2-liter V8. And this is exactly why it ends up to be the most powerful naturally aspirated production Ford engine in the company's history.

A six-speed manual transmission along with a Torsen limited-slip differential will carry all this power to the rear wheels and this will also ensure that the wheels don't spin for minutes at a time. There are 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels wearing state-of-the-art Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires with GT350-specific sidewall construction and tread which has been tuned up for maximum grip. Such a car would definitely need massive brakes which shows that the front of the Shelby GT350 has been equipped with 394-millimeter rotors with Brembo six-piston calipers and 380-millimeter rotors that use four-piston calipers for the back.

Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer at Ford Global Performance Vehicles said, "We took the best Ford Mustang yet and massaged every aspect of the car that affects the performance driving experience. We tested endlessly on the most challenging roads and tracks in the world, and we believe serious drivers will love the Shelby GT350 Mustang."
