HBO's 'Real Sports' host Bryant Gumbel hates the National Rifle Association. He sure has a platform to dig deeper into the issues of the day.
Bryant Gumbel with his Real Sports HBO show is the most straightforward and hard-hitting anchor this side of the Atlantic. While most sports shows tend to curry favor with top celebs, such is not the case with Gumbel who calls a spade a spade and does not mince words.

In fact, it's been almost a decade and a half since Gumbel has been the main man of the show and he has never let the reputation of his tough talking show get besmirched by any hypocrisy or toadying behavior.
Among the long list of topics currently being discussed on his show may be included: soccer match fixing, sales of rifles to the young and violence in the NFL.
Bryant Gumbel recently spoke out against the “pigs” of the NRA as he referred to them, during an interview with RollingStone.
Gumbel has always been somewhat of a curmudgeon. He doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Besides stating his views about the NFL, Gumbel drawled on about the NRA.
Bryant Gumbel said that there were very few things he hated more than that group called the NRA, the source of all the deadly violence in the United States. They were nothing but a bunch of swine according to Gumbel.
He felt that these freaks didn’t give two hoots about the sanctity of human life. In fact, they were a smudge on the face of American society.
As far as saying it like it is is concerned, Gumbel was right on target. He felt strongly about murder, guns and rifles and hunting as a form of entertainment. Gumbel was referring to the”Eat What You Kill” movement whose members only ate meat from the animals they had shot down with their guns and rifles.
Gumbel readily agreed with the fact that he could sound arrogant but that was just the way it was. He may be chided for his arrogance and chutzpah but he wanted his platform to be one of intelligence and insight instead of a dumbed down version of ESPN News.
Yet many are cross with Gumbel for what they feel is the unfair demonization of the NRA. They claim that his words will not get him into the good books of the loyal members of the NRA.

And they would also like to remind Bryant Gumbel that many decent law-abiding citizens of the United States are a part of the NRA and they don’t exactly go around killing people for fun.
